Perfect Guests and Perfect Days
Stu and Terri visited us last week, and we loved having them here! It was fun to show them the sights of Taos: the Arroyo Seco 4th of July parade, the Ski Valley, the Gorge Bridge, and the Rio Grande. We enjoyed the restaurants too: the Guadalajara Grill (twice!), the Sheva Cafe, and Orlando's. They were perfect guests, and we were sorry to see them leave.
Guests who were scheduled to arrive on Sunday had to cancel due to a family emergency, so we spent the day hiking up to Williams Lake. It was one of those clear-blue-sky days that are perfect for hiking, and many others must have thought so, too, since we encountered quite a few people (and a couple of horses) on the trail. The snow that Matt and Adam had to wade through was gone, except for a few patches along the sides of the trail. We worked up hearty appetites on the way down and decided to try a new restaurant, Texas BBQ, for dinner. The restaurant is in the El Torreon Hacienda, and has a beautiful, close-up view of Taos Mountain from its outdoor patio. We ended the perfect day at the Adobe Bar, where a group of four musicians sang Spanish popular songs.
The Taos Fiesta is the weekend after next, and we can't wait. Maybe Michael and Suzanne will be here to celebrate with us! Que viva la reina y las princesas! Que viva Taos!
